How to Write High Quality Web Content (That Will Rank High on Google) [Infographic]

Content is the most important part of your website. If people visit your website and don’t find the information they are looking for, they will probably leave, and your website’s bounce rates will go up. The Google search algorithm also looks for indicators of content quality when calculating your website’s search ranking. If you want to rank high in search results, you need to write high quality web content. This is why “content is king”.

Here are five factors you can look at to make sure you are writing high quality content for your website.

1 – Content Relativity Score

In the past, the Google Algorithm used to look for the number of times a keyword was used to determine what a website’s content was about. However, this this led to keywords being overused and poor-quality content ranking high. Now the Google algorithm looks for other indicators of content quality. Having content that is relevant and comprehensive increases a website’s consent relativity score.  A high content relativity score is an indicator of high-quality content.

2 – Content Length

Content that is comprehensive is higher quality than content that does not fully describe a topic. The Google search algorithm takes text length into account when determining search rankings. In general, aim to write posts that are about 1,500 words long. However, including content that is not relevant to the topic does not improve the quality of the website and will hurt your Google ranking. Don’t add more words just to increase the length of your article. Write high quality web content.

3 – Keyword density

As mentioned previously, keyword density used to be a big factor in determining a website ranking. Now to prevent keyword stuffing, Google penalizes websites that use keywords too many times. Using a keyword a few times may be useful, but you do not want to overdo it. In general, for a 1,500 word article, don’t use the page’s keyword more than 8 times.

4 – Readability

If a website is hard to read, people will likely leave, and your website’s bounce rate will go up.

In order to write in a way that is easy to understand, you can follow these four suggestions.

  • Don’t have more than 5 sentences in a paragraph.
  • Don’t have more than 20 words in a sentence.
  • Use simple words that are easy to understand.
  • Write in active voice (not passive voice).

Remember to also check for spelling and grammar mistakes before your post your webpage. Many websites and plugins like Yoast include readability scores so you can see how easy your website is to understand.

5 – Images and Video

Content does not have to be all text. Adding images and videos to your website will make your site more fun for visitors.
